At PhysioDNA, we’re proud to have a team of passionate and skilled professionals who care deeply about helping clients move and feel their best. One of the newest additions to our team is Katherine, a Resident Physiotherapist with a strong foundation in evidence-based care and a dedication to individual outcomes.
Katherine completed her Master of Science in Physical Therapy at the University of Toronto, one of Canada’s most respected physiotherapy programs. During her time in the program, she gained valuable experience in a wide range of settings—from hospital-based acute care to outpatient orthopaedics to paediatric rehabilitation. This diverse background has shaped her holistic understanding of movement, pain, and recovery.
What drew Katherine to physiotherapy wasn’t just a fascination with anatomy or biomechanics – it was the opportunity to create a tangible, lasting impact in people’s lives. She believes in the power of movement to restore confidence, reduce pain, and empower people of all ages to take control of their health.
Treatment Philosophy: Katherine takes a thoughtful and personalized approach to care. Every person she works with has different goals, challenges, and expectations, and her job as a therapist is to meet them where they are. Her treatments are built around three core pillars:
- Manual Therapy: Hands-on care to reduce tension, improve joint mobility, and relieve pain.
- Exercise Prescription: Tailored movement routines that target specific weaknesses or imbalances.
- Education: Equipping clients with the knowledge they need to understand their condition and play an active role in their recovery.
Katherine values collaboration, not just with her clients but with the rest of the healthcare team. She’s always looking to understand the bigger picture and coordinate care when needed to help her patients progress efficiently and sustainably.
Areas of Interest: Katherine enjoys working with a broad population, including those with everyday aches and pains, postural issues, and sports-related injuries. Additionally, she has a special interest in paediatrics and continues to work with children at another practice, where she supports developmental and neuromuscular rehabilitation.
Her approach with younger clients emphasizes patience, creativity, and communication, essential skills that also benefit her adult clients, especially those who are new to physiotherapy or recovering from complex injuries.
Ongoing Education and Certifications: Katherine is committed to ongoing growth in her practice. She’s completed:
- AIM Level I (Orthopaedic Division): Foundational manual therapy training through the Canadian Physiotherapy Association.
- MAP Class Level I: A hands-on course in postural and movement analysis, with a focus on identifying inefficient patterns in daily activity.
She is already planning to pursue further orthopedic and pediatric-focused courses to build her clinical toolkit and stay up to date with best practices.
Life Outside the Clinic: When she’s not in the treatment room, you can find Katherine running, baking, or enjoying live music around the city. These hobbies give her balance and perspective, and help her connect with clients on a human level. She understands the value of movement, not just as treatment, but as a way to engage in life more fully.
